Damiano’s Story

Our handsome big boy, Damiano, has been with us for almost three years.

In April 2019, we received a call from a police officer, who had been alerted about a dangerous dog.

That day, Damiano had just gotten back home from his neuter surgery, and he was not feeling well. His “family” thought something was wrong with him, and wanted him to be euthanized.

They then contacted a trainer, who arrived with a catch pole in a full bite suit. We can only imagine how Damiano, who just had surgery that day, must have been feeling. Just like any of us would have been, he was frightened to death.  

He was crying, barking, growling, doing everything he could to protect himself, as the trainer was trying to catch pole him.

The officer who contacted us gave us the address of his so-called family, and we immediately rushed there. What we found was a frightened dog, not a dangerous dog.

That day we rescued Damiano, and he never looked back on the people who wanted him to be euthanized.  

This whole situation was traumatic for poor Damiano, who was a victim of his large size.

Since then, Damiano has been with us, and has been looking for a family that will understand him.

Damiano may take some time to adjust when in a new situation, and it takes him some time before fully trusting someone. But once he learns to know you, he is forever loyal.

As we previously said, Damiano is a very big boy, and he would do best in a home with no other animals.

Despite everything, Damiano is a great dog, who just need to be understood.

We are looking for a family that knows large breed dogs’ temperaments, particularly Cane Corsos.
