Biscuit’s Story
This little mama’s story shattered our hearts.
Biscuit was found in a field in the Redlands, along her five newborns puppies. It was evident that Biscuit had given birth by herself, and that she was dumped because she was very sick; blood clots were coming out from her vulva.
The Redlands in Florida is a known dumping ground for dogs. It is a miracle that her puppies survived and that they weren’t attacked by other dogs.
Biscuit was taken to the shelter, where they noticed that she was expelling blood. Fearing that another puppy was still inside, they performed an emergency surgery. No remaining puppies were found, and the remaining of her placenta was removed.
Sadly, it is now suspected that Biscuit is suffering from pyometra, a life-threatening uterus infection, that cause the uterus to fill with bacteria and pus.
This is an emergency, and Biscuit needs immediate care. Our crew picked up the family from the shelter and rushed her to the veterinarian hospital.
