Kenji’s Story
We received an urgent call about Kenji, a small terrier mix facing the heartbreaking possibility of euthanasia at the NYC ACC due to some behavioral challenges she was experiencing.
Kenji was described as having a "spicy" personality, which made her struggle in the chaotic shelter environment. Her feelings of fear and uncertainty led her to snarl, lunge, bark, and growl at those around her, putting her life at risk despite her small size.
Thankfully, a compassionate foster family stepped up, eager to help. They had previously adopted Nala and two other dogs with behavioral issues, showing their commitment to giving dogs like Kenji a second chance. We recognized that this was Kenji’s opportunity for a brighter future.
The family welcomed her into their home, giving her the space she needs to decompress. Kenji may be a bit shaken and confused right now, but we believe she’s finally in a safe and loving environment.
As each day passes, we hold on to the hope that Kenji will realize she is no longer in a place of fear. A heartfelt thank you to this incredible family, who is dedicated to rehabilitating her and helping her heal.
